Hello, First a general comment: My wife bought me a Maxair kit for my 2002 Yamaha V-Star, which I installed on 12/26, and have been enjoying ever since. All the statements about “not needing a 6th gear” and the like are absolutely true, and I couldn’t be happier. I actually rode my bike to Daytona Bike Week this year (about a 250 mile ride) and the highway speeds were no problem. Prior to the upgrade, 75 MPH was a real strain on the bike, and it just sounded like I was doing damage. But AFTER the upgrade, 75 actually seems tame! Also, you should know that my MPG has increased MARKEDLY! I now get 65 MPG out of my 1100! That is about 20% better than before!

Reason for the Email: I am actually writing to show you what I did to cover the carb after removing the old ugly air box and filter housing, and have attached a photo. I noticed that my twin carbs were actually identical units bolted together. It struck me that I should be able to mount the stock left-hand cover onto the right hand side. I measured it, and sure enough it was a perfect fit. I only needed the mounting bracket. After doing the research, however, I found that the mounting bracket is not sold as a part separate from the carburetor; if I wanted one, I would have to either buy an entire carb for $500, or fabricate my own. So I purchased some stock flat iron, and went to work. The whole thing (including the new stock chrome cover from Yamaha) cost me about $25, and took about an hour to make. As a finishing touch, I affixed your sticker to the new cover as a symbol of my pride of ownership. BTW, I get questions about it all the time at bike shows, and I recommend your product highly. I am your best salesman! :) Please share this with your team, and feel free to post this to the blog on your site if you wish.

Thanks for a great product!
